Remembrance Sunday

12th November 2017

The Provincial Grand Master, R.W.Bro. Keith Beardmore, is requesting as many Brethren and Lodges as possible to participate and support the institution of Remembrance Sunday by being involved in the parades and laying wreaths at war memorials. Last year 49 wreaths were laid on behalf of Mark Masonry throughout the Province and elsewhere.

A dispensation has been given by the Provincial Grand Master,  whereby  Mark Brethren may wear their Mark collars or chains at the remembrance parades or services; if they so wish. This is only applicable to Remembrance Sunday and aprons must NOT be worn.

This year we have again ordered fifty off “Mark” wreaths from the Royal British Legion in anticipation that more Lodges will be participating for 2017, until eventually all Mark lodges are involved.

Lodges are requested to make their applications for wreaths through their Special Representative.
A donation from the Provincial Mark Charities to the Royal British Legion will be made to offset any costs involved

It is intended that the wreaths will be available for distribution and collection early in October, by the Special Representatives, for onward distribution to the Lodges.

Wherever possible, if you are taking and laying a wreath, will you please endeavour to update the Mark website with a report and photographs of your Lodges participation in the Remembrance Services and parades.
